Freight Dispatching FAQ — Owner-Operator Questions Answered

Question 1

How do I sign up as a carrier?

Accepted Answer

Getting started is simple. Send us your MC number, proof of insurance, and W-9 and we'll have your carrier profile set up within 24 hours. Once you're onboarded, we start sourcing loads immediately. There are no setup fees and no contracts to sign.

Question 2

How long does onboarding take?

Accepted Answer

Most carriers are fully onboarded and running their first load within 24 hours of submitting their documents. We handle all broker carrier packet submissions on your behalf, so you don't have to wait on individual broker approvals before we can book freight.

Question 3

What documents do I need to get started?

Accepted Answer

You'll need your MC number, a current certificate of insurance (COI) naming us as certificate holder, and a completed W-9. If you have a preferred broker list or existing carrier packets already on file, share those too — it speeds up the process.

Question 4

Do I need to have my own authority?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work with owner-operators and small fleets who hold their own operating authority (MC number). We do not dispatch under our authority or work with drivers leased to a carrier.

Question 5

What is your dispatch fee?

Accepted Answer

We charge a flat 7% of the gross load pay on each load we book for you. That's it — no weekly retainers, no per-document fees, no setup costs, and no hidden charges. If a load falls through before pickup, you owe nothing.

Question 6

When do I pay the fee?

Accepted Answer

You only pay after you get paid. Our 7% fee is deducted from each load's gross pay — there are no upfront charges and no minimums. We earn when you earn.

Question 7

Is the fee calculated on accessorial charges too?

Accepted Answer

No. Our fee is calculated on the base load rate only. Accessorial charges we recover for you — detention, layover, TONU, lumper reimbursements — go straight to you with no deduction.

Question 8

Are there any contracts or minimum commitments?

Accepted Answer

None. There are no long-term contracts, no minimum load requirements, and no cancellation penalties. You can stop working with us at any time. We keep carriers by delivering results, not by locking them in.

Question 9

Am I forced to take loads I don't want?

Accepted Answer

Never. You have full authority over every load decision. We present options, negotiate rates, and make recommendations — but you approve every load before we confirm it. No load is booked without your explicit sign-off.

Question 10

How do you find loads?

Accepted Answer

We source freight through DAT, Truckstop, and our direct broker network. We prioritize loads in your preferred lanes and equipment type, and we negotiate rates before presenting them to you — so you're seeing the best available rate, not the first offer.

Question 11

What happens if there's a problem on the road?

Accepted Answer

We provide 24/7 in-transit support for every active load. If you hit a detention situation, an appointment change, a breakdown, or any issue with the broker, contact us immediately and we handle it. You focus on driving — we handle the communication.

Question 12

Do you vet the brokers you work with?

Accepted Answer

Yes, every time. Before booking a load, we check the broker's credit score, payment history, and reliability record. We only work with brokers who have a proven track record of paying on time. If a broker's score drops, we stop booking with them.

Question 13

What equipment types do you dispatch?

Accepted Answer

We specialize in Reefer (refrigerated) and Dry Van. We also dispatch Flatbed, Step Deck, RGN, Power Only, Hotshot, Box Truck, Sprinter Van, and Straight Truck. If you're unsure whether your equipment qualifies, reach out and we'll confirm.

Question 14

Can I set preferred lanes or regions?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. When you onboard, we document your preferred lanes, home base, and any regions you want to avoid. We prioritize freight that fits your preferences and work to build consistent round-trip lanes so you're not chasing backhauls.

Question 15

Do you dispatch teams?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We dispatch team operations and can source longer-haul loads that take advantage of your team's extended hours of service. Let us know your team setup during onboarding and we'll factor that into load sourcing.

Question 16

How does invoicing work?

Accepted Answer

Once you deliver a load and have your signed BOL, upload it through our Carrier Portal. We submit the invoice to the broker immediately — no delays on our end. Payment terms depend on the broker (typically net 30), but we follow up on all outstanding invoices on your behalf.

Question 17

Do you offer quick pay or factoring?

Accepted Answer

We work with several factoring companies and can connect you with options that fit your cash flow needs. Quick pay availability depends on the individual broker. Ask us during onboarding and we'll walk you through what's available for your lanes.

Question 18

What if a broker doesn't pay?

Accepted Answer

We vet brokers before booking, but if a payment issue arises, we handle the follow-up directly. We document everything — rate confirmations, BOLs, delivery receipts — and escalate through the appropriate channels. You won't be left chasing a broker on your own.
