Dispatch Services
Accessorial & Detention Recovery
Brokers count on carriers not knowing what they're owed. We document every accessorial, negotiate the terms before dispatch, and pursue every dollar after delivery — flat 7%, no contracts.
The Money Most Carriers Leave on the Table
Detention pay, TONU, layover, lumper reimbursement, truck order not used — these aren't bonuses. They're compensation for your time and costs that brokers are contractually obligated to pay when the terms are in writing. Most carriers never collect because they don't know to ask, didn't get it in the rate confirmation, or gave up when the broker pushed back.
We put accessorial terms in writing before you move, document the clock when you're held, and pursue payment after delivery. If a broker disputes a legitimate charge, we handle the back-and-forth so you don't have to.
What We Handle
Detention Pay Negotiation
We negotiate detention pay into every rate confirmation before dispatch — rate, free time window, and per-hour amount. If you're held beyond free time, we document the clock and submit the detention invoice to the broker.
TONU (Truck Order Not Used)
If a broker cancels a load after you've already dispatched or are en route, you're owed TONU. We negotiate TONU terms into rate confirmations and pursue payment when a broker pulls a load at the last minute.
Layover Pay
When a load requires an overnight stay due to shipper or receiver delays, you're owed layover pay. We document the situation, notify the broker, and submit the layover invoice on your behalf.
Lumper Reimbursement
If you're required to pay for lumper services at a receiver, that cost should be reimbursed by the broker. We confirm lumper reimbursement terms before dispatch and submit receipts for reimbursement after delivery.
Rate Confirmation Review
We read every rate confirmation before you sign it. We flag missing accessorial language, add detention and TONU clauses where absent, and push back on terms that waive your right to accessorial pay.
Broker Dispute Handling
When a broker disputes a legitimate accessorial charge, we handle the communication. We document the timeline, reference the rate confirmation language, and escalate through the broker's AP process when needed.
Common Accessorials We Recover
Detention pay
Compensation for time spent waiting at a shipper or receiver beyond the free time window specified in the rate confirmation. Typically $50–$100/hour after 2 hours of free time.
TONU
Truck Order Not Used — paid when a broker cancels a load after you've been dispatched or are en route. Typically $150–$300 depending on how far you've traveled.
Layover pay
Compensation for an overnight delay caused by the shipper or receiver. Typically $200–$350 per night, negotiated into the rate confirmation before dispatch.
Lumper reimbursement
Reimbursement for third-party unloading labor (lumpers) paid at the receiver. Requires a receipt and pre-negotiated reimbursement language in the rate confirmation.
Driver assist
Compensation when a driver is required to assist with loading or unloading beyond normal duties. Must be negotiated before dispatch — after-the-fact claims are rarely honored.
Fuel surcharge
A per-mile or percentage surcharge to offset fuel costs. We negotiate FSC into rate confirmations on applicable loads and ensure it's paid as a separate line item — not buried in the linehaul rate.
How Recovery Works
Pre-Dispatch Rate Confirmation Review
Before you accept any load, we review the rate confirmation for accessorial language. We add detention, TONU, and layover clauses where absent and push back on terms that waive your rights.
Real-Time Documentation
When you arrive at a shipper or receiver, we note your arrival time. If you're held beyond free time, we document the detention clock in real time and notify the broker before you leave the facility.
Accessorial Invoice Submission
After delivery, we generate and submit your accessorial invoice to the broker alongside your BOL invoice. We include timestamps, rate confirmation references, and any supporting documentation.
Follow-Up & Dispute Resolution
If a broker disputes or ignores an accessorial invoice, we follow up through their AP process. We reference the rate confirmation language and escalate as needed until the charge is resolved.
Payment Tracking
We track accessorial payments alongside your linehaul invoices. If an accessorial charge is short-paid or missing from a payment, we flag it and pursue the balance.
